Honest Sourdough: Optional Product Source List

First of all, I’m so excited that you’ve joined us inside the course! Even if you have zero experience with sourdough, in a few weeks you’ll be baking like never before.

There are only a few basic things needed to get started with learning sourdough:

  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Mixing bowl
  • Tea towel
  • Glass container for starter
  • A wooden spoon or stick to stir with
  • Vessel for holding dough
  • Dutch oven or baking stone (if using a baking/pizza stone, you will need a broiler pan or similar to hold water for steam)

A lightweight dutch oven will work fine, just make sure it’s rated for at least 450F.

A stand mixer comes in handy, but definitely not necessary, especially for baking regular sourdough loaves.

Here are some Amazon links to a few things I use and love:

Glass locking-lid jar
Banneton basket set w/ scoring lame and dough scraper
Single banneton

Lodge cast iron enameled dutch oven
